Walk into any well-made hotel lobby, heritage shophouse or high-end residence and you will almost certainly find brass. Door handles, hinges, cabinet pulls and decorative trims made from this copper-zinc alloy have been specified by architects and furniture makers for generations. At Innovation Global Group Limited we have worked with brass since 2015, and we still consider it the benchmark against which other hardware materials are measured.
The first reason is strength combined with workability. Brass is hard enough to carry the daily loads placed on a door hinge or a drawer handle, yet soft enough to be machined, cast, forged and polished with great precision. This allows us to hold tight tolerances on threads, pivots and mounting holes, which means a hinge that closes quietly and a knob that does not loosen after a few months of use.
The second reason is corrosion resistance. Unlike plain steel, brass does not rust. In Hong Kong, where humidity regularly rises above 80 percent and many buildings sit close to the sea, this matters a great deal. Brass will develop a natural patina over time, but this surface layer actually protects the metal underneath. For clients who prefer a consistent appearance, we offer lacquered and plated finishes that slow this process considerably.
Third, brass is naturally antimicrobial. Copper ions in the alloy help reduce the survival of bacteria on frequently touched surfaces. This is one reason brass push plates and handles are popular in clinics, restaurants and shared office spaces.
Fourth, brass ages gracefully. A well-maintained brass handle can remain in service for decades. When a piece of furniture is refurbished, the original brass hardware is often cleaned and reinstalled rather than replaced. This long service life lowers the true cost of ownership, even when the initial price is higher than zinc alloy or plastic alternatives.
It is worth understanding that not all brass is equal. Common grades such as C36000 (free-machining brass) are ideal for turned components like knobs and screws, while C26000 (cartridge brass) offers better ductility for stamped and formed parts. Lead content, zinc ratio and the quality of the raw bar all affect how a finished part performs. Our quality control team checks incoming material certificates and carries out dimensional and finish inspections on every production batch.
When you specify hardware for a project, consider where it will be installed, how often it will be used and how you want it to look in ten years. For entrances, kitchens, wardrobes and premium furniture, solid brass remains a sound investment.

Brass makes a lasting corporate gift. This Mid-Autumn season several clients asked us to adapt our square base blocks and knurled columns into pen holders and paperweights.
Brass is mostly copper, so its price follows the copper market. Bar stock prices rose around six percent in the first half of this year.
Brass has long been the material of choice for lamp bodies, arms, fittings and furniture details. Its warm tone complements timber, marble and fabric, and its machinability allows the fine threads and precise joints that lighting and furniture assemblies depend on. At Innovation Global Group Limited we supply a wide range of brass components to lighting brands, joinery workshops and interior designers. Here are key points to consider when specifying them.
Hinge brackets look simple, but a one-millimetre error in hole spacing can stop a cabinet door from closing flush.
In May a hospitality client asked us to supply brass components for a lobby chandelier refurbishment. The brief: match existing aged fittings and deliver within ten weeks.
Our parts are made at 國銅五金廠 in Shuibei Industrial Area, Shipai Town, Dongguan. The factory runs CNC lathes, stamping presses, polishing lines and an in-house packing area.
As more of our clients set environmental targets for their buildings and products, we are often asked how brass hardware fits into a sustainable specification. The answer is encouraging. Brass is one of the most recyclable engineering materials in use today, and its long service life means fewer replacements and less waste over the life of a building.
Food and beverage spaces are hard on hardware: steam, grease and constant cleaning. Brass handles this well if the right finish is chosen.
Factories in Dongguan close for two to three weeks around Chinese New Year, and workers return gradually. For customers, that means orders placed in January need careful timing.
Brass straight from polishing is bright and golden, but it will darken over time as it reacts with air and touch. Whether you want that change decides whether you need lacquer.
A clear enquiry gets you an accurate quotation faster. These are the details we ask for before pricing an OEM brass part.
Not all brass is the same. The two grades we use most at our Dongguan factory are C3604 and C2680, and choosing the right one affects cost, finish and strength.
